- Pommard is for many, the most familiar Burgundy appellation. The village itself lies approximately four kilometres south of Beaune, and the total appellation is fairly extensive, covering 300 hectares, flanking a narrow valley which leads back into the Côte d'Or hinterland. The wines of Pommard are quite different from those of the neighbouring villages. They tend to be deeper and more concentrated than Beaune or Volnay wines and have a sumptuous perfume and bite without being too tannic. This wine requires a number of years to reveal itself.

A spicy version, revealing aromas of sandalwood and incense as well as vanilla framing the cherry and currant fruit. It tightens up, turning compact and crisp, on the finish, where a mineral element emerges. Best from 2025 through 2042.— BS
- Pommard 2012 - Burghound.com - April 2014 - 90/100A discreet but not invisible application of wood frames the ripe dark berry fruit and damp earth aromas. There is solid density to the ripe and muscular flavors where the supporting tannins are phenolically mature, all wrapped in a robust, rustic and lingering finish. - 2006 Pommard – Burghound – April 2008 - 87 points :An expressive red pinot fruit nose displays obvious earth and underbrush nuances that continue onto the supple, attractive and sweet flavors that firm up quickly on the delicious and round finish. This should drink well on the early side. 87/2010+
- 2004 Pommard - Burghound.com - April 2006 - 85-87 points :A notably ripe cassis and extract of raspberry-infused nose leads to round, supple, frank and direct flavors that posses just enough phenolic maturity to avoid astringency, all wrapped in a touch of finishing wood.
- 2003 Pommard - Burghound.com - April 2005 - 86 points :Very ripe but not roasted red pinot fruit, mineral and a slight animale note combine with very rich, round and earthy medium full flavors that are delicious, serious and reasonably fresh. This is a relatively masculine wine as it's robust but not coarse with good muscle and punch on the persistent finish. In short, good if not elegant. 86/2009+
