The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose offers concentration in finesse, juiciness and an airy side. A fine spicy side (licorice, ground cumin, white pepper, nutmeg) appears in the first nose and is complemented by notes of dried mint, dried rosemary, a hint of tobacco and a beautiful floral bouquet (violet, lily, peony). The fruits on the nose are juicy, tangy and ripe, with a touch of roasted fruits. We find in particular the aromas of fresh red cherry, roasted red cherry, fresh strawberry, raspberry and blueberry, as well as delicate roasted notes (coffee, toasted almond, a hint of cocoa). The palate is firm and juicy at the same time, and offers precision, a chiseled side and tangy fresh fruits. It expresses notes of tangy strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, bird cherry and cranberries with a good bitterness. We also find floral notes of violet and lily, a herbaceous side (dried mint, rosemary), slightly bitter roasted notes (coffee, toasted almond, cocoa). The tannins have a fine texture and a solid structure, gripping on the finish, but softened by their cocoa aspect and a salivating acidity. Good length with a good bitterness and notes of tangy fruits on the persistence. (November 2024)

Plenty of black cherry and blackberry fruit plus notes of licorice and red roses. A substantial Nuits-Saint-Georges with a wonderful balance of fleshiness and healthy tannins that aren't a jot too much. Long, moderately dry finish. Drink or hold. (Stuart Pigott, June 2024)

Cloves, smoke, dried cherries and iron on the nose, with some lemon peel. A little reductive. Medium-bodied, with chalky, powdery tannins. Darker fruit profile and quite some smoky power at the finish. Drink or hold.

Deep, boasting flavors of black cherry and blackberry, this red is guided by lively acidity and a light grip of tannins. Reveals toasty oak and sweet,
spicy elements, remaining silky through the lingering finish. Drink now through 2035. (November 2023, USA)

Latour managed the tannins nicely in 2020, not obliterating them, but refining them, while maintaining the captivating wildness characteristic of the village's wines. The vintage provided sufficient density, so this youthful beauty is a balanced and quintessential example of Nuits-St.-Georges. An edgy freshness in its formidable length amplifies its character.

A juicy version, full of black currant, black cherry and violet aromas and flavors backed by vibrant acidity and light tannins. This should be approachable soon. Mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2030. -BS

Here the nose is quite firmly reduced and revealing nothing of interest. Otherwise, there is quite a bit of gas on the impressively concentrated and powerful medium-bodied flavors that, despite the gas, still manage to deliver fine length. This is hard to read with precision, but it appears to have very good underlying material.

"Ripe aromas include those of plum, earth, dark currant and a whiff of the sauvage. The delicious, vibrant and precise medium weight flavors possess very good depth and reasonable persistence on the moderately austere and rustic finale." 2026+

An open red, whose black currant and blueberry flavors are allied to a lively structure, with firm, dusty tannins. Tar and earth add grace notes, lingering on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2036. — BS

This is also quite earthy with game nuances adding breadth to the various dark berry aromas that evidence a whisper of the sauvage. The rich and acceptably concentrated medium weight flavors possess a succulent mouthfeel before culminating in a palate coating and ever-so-mildly rustic finale. This is refreshing... 2024+

A hard edge clips the cherry, strawberry and earth flavors, accented by a graphite note. On the austere side now, this is linear and taut, leaving a chalky, stony feel on the finish. Best from 2022 through 2036 - Bruce Sanderson

I tasted this wine earlier this year and loved it - yes it is expensive but it is Christmas! Brimming with earthy sweet red fruits, textured, hugely complex with lingering. (By  Leslie Williams)

The wine is structured with solid tannins and a foursquare character. Ripe fruits with plenty of balancing acidity give this wine its density and its crisp edge. (USA)

Distinctly earthy and sauvage nuances on the solidly complex aromas of black pinot fruit, pepper and spice wisps. The sleek, precise and appealingly energetic flavors deliver equally good depth on the youthfully austere and rustic finale. 2020+ Allen Meadows (USA)

There is enough wood surrounding the gamy and intensely earth red currant aromas to remark upon. The medium-bodied flavors possess good mid-palate density while retaining solid detail and punch on the robust and rustic finale that delivers fine if not truly exceptional length. This is very Nuits in basic character and note that it will need a few years of bottle age to round off the somewhat rude tannins. /2021+
