- Situated about 10 Km from Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the finest viticultural villages of the Côte de Nuits. In 1847 Gevrey-Chambertin was the first village of the Côte d'Or to join the village name with that of one of its Grand Crus - hence 'Gevrey-en-Montagne' became 'Gevrey-Chambertin. Planted only with Pinot Noir, here one finds the complete hierarchy of the Burgundian appellations: to the north, the premiers crus and to the south the grand crus. The village appellations are gathered on the bottom of the slope. The sparse and pebbly limestone-rich brown-red soils give Gevrey-Chambertin wines power and body. A great Côte de Nuits classic!

- Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 - Bill Nanson Burgundy Report - December 2023The Maison assembly of different contracts.
A deeper red fruit - darker more focused. Some gas. Lots of volume and some sweetness again. Lots of good things but a wine that needs more maturing. - Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 - The Oenofiles by Robb Report - Wine of the week
TASTE: Red raspberry, licorice, and a touch of smoke
BODY: Medium to full with soft tannins
FINISH: Fruity and elegant
PAIRING: Rosemary brined pork chops on the grill
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 - James Suckling - 93/100
An excellent Gevrey-Chambertin village that already gives so much pleasure. The allspice aromas are married to deep Damson plum fruit, and there's a subtle savory element woven into this on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Quite some weight at the long, ample finish. Drink or hold. (Stuart Pigott, June 2024)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2021 - James Suckling - July 2023 - 91/100
Dark berry fruit here with mulberries, licorice and dried flowers on the nose. Some tobacco. Cool and firm on the palate, with a medium body and tight tannins. Gently astringent and austere, but enough fruit sweetness to carry this. Try in 2024.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2021 - Wine Spectator - 92/100
A rich, juicy style, this red delivers cherry, raspberry, floral and spice flavors aligned with a supple texture and refined structure. On the elegant side, yet with a hint of earth that adds robust dimension. Shows the length. Drink now through 2032. (November 2023, USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2021 - Bill Nanson Burgundy Report - January 2023
This nose is more direct, there's a precision to this fruit with a floral accompaniment. Extra depth and clarity of flavour - here we have something excellent. Good structure and persistent in the finish. This could be excellent!
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2020 - James Suckling - 92/100 pts
An impressive Gevrey-Chambertin that has so much fruity charm and the gentle tannins underline this very nicely. Thankfully, no attempt was made to make some kind of bold statement. Quite dry finish, but this helps to give the wine vitality. Drink or hold.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2020 - Burghound.com - 88-90/100 pts
This is quite ripe yet manages to retain reasonable freshness on the earthy and sauvage-inflected aromas of cassis and plum liqueur. There is very good vibrancy and detail to the delicious medium weight flavors that exhibit mild warmth on the moderately rustic and persistent finale. This will need at least a few years of patience.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2020 - Wine Spectator - USA - October 2022 - 90/100
A bright red, with black cherry and blackberry flavors, whose juicy fruit finds nice equilibrium with dusty tannins. Delivers tobacco and mineral notes, which add depth as this winds down with solid grip. Best from 2024 through 2036. -BS
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 - 92 pts - James Suckling - July 2021
Full red-fruit aromas with a touch of smoky oak, plus a generous tannin structure make a bold statement. Slightly robust on the mid-palate, but more polished at the finish. Drink or hold.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 - 92 pts - Wine Spectator May 2021
Shy in aromas, yet full of black cherry and blackberry fruit, shaded by earth and spice. A meaty style, it leads with fruit and closes with slightly gritty tannins, in a good way. Drink now through 2028.— BS
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 - Burghound.com, Allen Meadows - Spring 2020 - 91/100 Top Value
A slightly ripe nose is composed of gamy dark berry, plum, floral and freshly turned earth where the latter element continues onto the bigger and richer though quite supple flavors that enjoy an excellent sense of vibrancy. This is really quite good and a Gevrey villages that has promise. 2025+
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 - Bill Nanson - January 2020 - "Excellent"
Hmm, a dark wine, this is concentrated but there's a nice and actually quite elegant top note of aroma. Lots of freshness - a big mouth-filling wine but one that's open and accessible. Not quite my style but a wine that avoids major excess. The finish is excellent with a little graphite minerality...
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2017 - James Suckling - USA - February 2019 - 92/100Plums and other dark fruit with black tea-leaf undertones. Medium to full body, sweet and juicy fruit and a pretty finish. Linear and focused. Shows precision and beauty. Drink after 2021.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2017 - Burgundy Report, Bill Nanson (UK) - January 2019 - "Delicious"
Pretty if slightly tight fruit - dark-red. Fresh, intense - serious, not easy wine. Waves of great flavour here - delicious once more. (Bill Nanson, UK)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2016 - James Suckling - February 2018 - 91/100Quite shy. This is a delicate wine for an appellation that has a reputation for full and rather earthy wines. Minty freshness and some solid tannins at the finish. Drink or hold.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 - Wine Enthusiast - November 2017 - 91/100
Structured & firm with fine red fruits & acidity, this is a wine that brings out all the structure of the appellation. It has acidity & red cherry & berry fruits that are shot through with a crisp texture. (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 - Wine Spectator - October 2017 - 92/100
A tantalizing earthiness pervades this cherry-laced red, with accents of iron and tobacco. Powerful and dense, yet remains fresh and long on the finish. (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 - Burghound.com - April 2017 - 90/100
An overtly sauvage-suffused nose reflects notes of forest floor, red currant and a touch of freshly turned earth. There is good punch and minerality to the relatively sleek and attractively textured middle weight flavors that possess a beguiling mouth feel, all wrapped in a refreshing if somewhat rustic finale. In contrast to the prior wines that should drink well on the earlier side, this will require at least a few years first. 2022+ Allen Meadows (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2014 - Wine Spectator - October 2016 - 90/100
A succulent red, laced with cherry, spice and stone flavors, this has a silky texture that gives way to moderately firm tannins. Hints of earth and stone on the finish. Drink now. By Bruce Sanderson (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2014 - Burghound.com - April 2016 - 91/100
Here the cool and restrained nose is more deeply pitched with notes of earth, dark berries and forest floor. There is once again very good freshness and verve to the equally delicious middle weight flavors that possess good precision on the moderately long finish where a subtle minerality is present. While not a wine of finesse per se this is more elegant than usual thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins. /2021+

bright and refined red with sliced citrus and plum character. Medium to full
body, fine tannins and a delicate finish. Savory and delicious. Drink or hold.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2013 - Burghound.com - April 2015 - 89/100Relatively generous wood fights a bit with the intensely earthy aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur and underbrush. The medium weight, supple and forward flavors exude a fine minerality on the more complex finish that is
underpinned by notably riper tannins. This should also drink well early yet reward a few years of cellaring. - Gevrey-Chambertin 2013 - Wine Spectator - April 2016 - 90/100
A ripe style, revealing kirsh, raspberry and plum fruit, accented by earth and tobacco notes. Firm tannins leave their grip on the moderately long finish. Vibrant, but needs time. Best from 2018 through 2028. By Bruce Sanderson (USA).

- Gevrey-Chambertin 2012 - - Burghound.com - April 2014 - 91/100A reserved nose of extract of plum, earth and menthol nuances leads to solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a notably fleshy and very round mouth feel. There is good vibrancy to the sauvage and mineral-inflected finish that displays a dusty character as well as fine balance. 2018+ By Allen Meadows (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 - Burghound.com - April 2012 - 88/100A cool and restrained nose of pungently earthy wild red berry aromas laced with humus and discreet mineral notes leads to delicious, precise and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that possess good depth. 2016+ By Allen Meadows (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 - Wine Spectator Online USA - October 2013 - 89/100Very clean and spicy, offering strawberry, currant and subtle cinnamon flavors. Features a lean profile, with enough flesh for balance and a mouthwatering finish. Best from 2015 through 2023.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2009 - Wine Review Online - December 2011 - 90/100Village wines from Gevrey-Chambertin can be among the most disappointing red Burgundies because some growers think they can get away bottling anything and selling it under that famous name. Fortunately, this is not one of them. Quite the contrary, the complexity and finesse suggest a premier cru. Indeed, the superb 2009 vintage for red Burgundy gives consumers an opportunity to buy many village wines with the character of premiers crus. Supple tannins are in perfect harmony with the ripe fruit, a hallmark of the 2009 vintage. A subtle intriguing leathery component complements its fruitiness. It's a great village wine. You can't have too many 2009 red Burgundies in your cellar. By Michael Apstein (USA).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2009 - Burghound.com - May 2011 - 87/100An attractively fresh and unusually high-toned nose speaks of primarily red berry fruit and Gevreystyle earth nuances that introduce supple, round and fleshy flavors that possess reasonably good length if less mid-palate concentration than the better villages level wines in the range. 2014+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2009- Jancis Robinson - January 2011 - 16/20Drink 2012-2016: Light cherry red. Direct nose that has a hint of boiled sweets about it but also has the richness of Gevrey underneath. Clean and direct. Finishes precisely and refreshingly. (UK)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2008 - Wine Spectator - June 2011 - 90/100Bright and pure, showing cherry, strawberry and spice aromas and flavors, with a lingering finish. This is tight, and the tannins have grip. Best from 2013 through 2020. (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 - Tom Cannavan's wine-pages.com - August 2012 - 89/100A lovely pale colour again, though a little darker than the Marsannay, there's a lovely sappy, earthy lift to the nose here, with delicate floral touches over more blackcurranty fruit. On the palate there is more substance here; not only more weight and texture, but a more juicy and solid core of fruit that powers the mid palate. Tannins are fairly beefy in this, and the freshness of the cherry-skin acidity along with plenty of spicy character gives it a fairly lean and structured finish. Drinking well, but will cellar for a few years yet and could soften a little in that time. By Tom Cannavan (UK).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 - The Times - July 18th 2015
If your taste in red burgundy is for richer, fully mature reds, scoop up this one. It is crammed with deftly oaked, fine, tasty, beef tea, tobacco and mocha flavours. Don't hang on to it for long; it's ready for drinking now. (50 best red wines for summer - UK)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 - Newcastle Journal - April 2012 - "Lovely stuff"Classy red Burgundy. It has an elegant, silky texture framing spicy red and black fruits with a savoury touch, fresh acidity and just enough tannin to balance boeuf bourgignon (rich beefy stew). Lovely stuff! (UK)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 - Wine Spectator Online - 2010 - 87/100On the herbal side, with accompanying floral, licorice and red cherry flavors. Light and sinewy, with a moderate finish. Best from 2011 through 2015. 1,280 cases made. By Bruce Sanderson (USA).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 - Burghound.com - April 2009 - 88/100This is perhaps the most complex of all the villages wines in the range with an earthy, fresh and slightly sauvage red berry fruit nose that complements the rich, round and forward barely middle weight flavors that are not especially structured though there is reasonably good material supporting the persistent finish. Pretty enough. 2012+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 - The Wine Gang - January 2013 - 90/100It's worth highlighting because it's a red Burgundy with some maturity which, although it's at its peak, isn't going to fall apart if you want to keep it another year or so. Enticingly perfumed with a pure, silky palate elegantly underpinned by oak. Goes with: Duck & Mild game, Red meat & Dark game, Chicken. (UK)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2006 - TheFineWineTimes.com - February 11th, 2010 - "Nice weight"Light ruby colour with a spicy black-fruit aromas and hints of minerals and earth. Reasonably concentrated with sappy black-fruits, earth and just integrated oak flavours. Nice weight, a touch 4-square but with rounded spicy black cherry and blackcurrant fruits. Moderate vanilla and mineral finish.
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2006 - Wine Spectator - May 2009 - 89/100The cherry flavor is matched by a vegetal note in this rich red, which is sweet at the core, with a fresh character and firm but well-meshed tannins. Best from 2010 through 2018. BY Bruce Sanderson (USA).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2005 - The Austin Times - January 2011 - "Long and elegant"The color was deeper than usual for a Burgundy but the aromas were typical pinot noir leather with smoky, earthy undertones. On the palate the wine was full bodied, black fruits and faint licorice. Though a little young, there was a nice balance in the mouth with soft tannins. The finish was long and (typical Burgundy) elegant. (USA)
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2003 - Burghound.com - April 2005 - 88/100A beautifully complex and penetrating nose that combines expansiv red and black pinot fruit aromas with dusty Gevrey earth and floral notes. Punchy, round, rich, sweet and solidly structured medium full flavors culminate in fine length and good freshness for the vintage. Another lovely villages that is like many of the forgoing wines as it's not particularly elegant but satisfying, frank and direct. By Allen Meadows (USA).
- Gevrey-Chambertin 2003 - Decanter magazine - November 2005 - "Attractive"Raisins and toast, an attractive mix of ripe fruits. Well-balanced palate, with lots of sweet, ripe fruit, good acidity, and well structured. 2-5 years. (UK)
