There's fine purity to the juicy, ripe cherry, raspberry, rose and rich earth aromas and flavors of this red. An underlying mineral component

All the darkness and danger of Corton are married to a stunning mineral freshness that's totally uplifting. Great Amarena cherry fruit, fruit that you want to bathe in. The way the fine tannins and acidity interlock is fabulous, and for all the ripeness of the vintage the finish is super-straight and energetic. Really deep nose of forest berries and violets. Then comes the very focused and amazingly velvety palate. The super-fine tannins and healthy acidity give this an extremely elegant profile, everything flowing effortlessly in the direction of nirvana. Drink or hold.

Deep ruby colour with an intense and complex bouquet marked by aromas of red fruits, spices, floral (violet), followed by notes of toast and cocoa. It has a fleshy attack, frank, and greedy. Opens on a rich, finely wooded palate with tight, velvety tannins.  Good length.

The 2020 Corton Clos de la Vigne Au Saint Grand Cru bursts with aromas of cherries, dark berries, musk, spices and vine smoke. Full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's rich and layered, with lively acids and a long, saline finish.This is the more sensual and suave of these two Corton bottlings.

Dark plums, thyme, and earthy tones create a luscious nose. The palate is inviting, offering concentrated black cherries and bramble, framed
by cardamom, warming spices, and a hint of green peppercorn. Silky and fruit-forward, this wine is beautifully balanced, with no trace of

A suave style, this red delivers depth and complexity, with aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry, plum and earth framed by toasty oak. Silky yet dense, with well-integrated tannins. The finish evokes dark fruit, earth and mineral notes. Best from 2025 through 2045. -B.S.

Mountain freshness and great mineral energy make this a very exciting Corton. Sleek and very focused with pronounced acidity, this has so much drive, the tannins already very well integrated for an appellation where that process often takes years. Breathtaking finish! Drink or hold.

A supple, open-knit red, delivering cherry, raspberry, earth and anise flavors, with subtle hints of rose and oak spice. Firm yet well-proportioned, this lingers with fading red fruit and chalky tannins. Best from 2025 through 2040. —B.S.

Lovely purity of fruit with crushed berries, dried lemons, mushrooms and cedar undertones. It's full-bodied and layered with soft tannins. Savory and subtly fruity at the same time. Drink after 2022.

Slightly sauvage-infected aromas of plum and dark cherry....the sense of underlying tension on the attractively detailed middle weight flavors that flash a subtle minerality on the firm, slightly austere and warm finale.

Latour owns the majority of Corton La Vigne au Saint in Aloxe, located down the slope from Chaumes just as the hill begins to shift from facing due south to south-west. The ripeness of the plum and blackberry fruit here reflects the heat of the year, and aromas include earthy, vegetal, and savoury aromas as well. This is big, lush and boasts black cherry, blackberry and plum fruit. Toasty, sweet spices add depth as does a mineral element that emerges as this winds down gracefully on the finish. Balanced and long, if lacking some nuance. Best from 2023 through 2040.— BS

"The 2018 Corton Clos de la Vigne Au Saint Grand Cru opens in the glass with notes of cherries, cassis, sweet spices and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, round and velvety, with lively acid and rich, powdery tannins, it's seamless and charming, much as I predicted from barrel."

Slightly fresher aromas speak of both red and dark raspberry, floral and spice. The sleek if not especially dense flavors are nicely vibrant and utterly delicious while possessing a really lovely mouthfeel on the mildly warm and raspy but not really drying finale. 2030+

The 2018 Corton Clos de la Vigne Au Saint Grand Cru is showing very well, mingling aromas of cherries and raspberries with hints of licorice and loamy soil in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it's a rich and fleshy wine of considerable charm, and I suspect it will drink well young.

Pleasant and approachable, the Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne has a forward raspberryfruit with a charming fl oral cast. The texture is lively and fresh, with surprisingly crispacidity balancing the ripeness of the year. The clay content in the soil here gives fleshy, supple wines, delivering a lovely wine for drinking now and for mid-term cellaring (November 2023, Charles Curtis, UK)

A concentrated core of pure cherry, raspberry and spice flavors highlights this intense red. Mineral and leafy tobacco elements add depth as this unfolds, while a firm, dusty matrix of tannins provides grip. Stays vibrant and long, with a terrific aftertaste of fruit, spice and mineral. There is fine size, weight and mid-palate concentration supporting the supple medium-bodied flavors that then immediately tighten up on the dusty, sappy and lingering finish. 2027+ Allen Meadows (USA)

A wide, dark-fruited nose, complex dark fruits, almost gelée. Super in the mouth despite modest volume, but not modest intensity - waves of flavour, with a little tannin. A hint of licorice in the finish perhaps. This has great potential! Bill Nanson (UK)

A pretty, silky wine with a lovely texture and plenty of berry and cherry character. Medium to full body and a fresh finish. Lovely texture and richness. Yet always in balance. Drink now or hold.

First recorded in 1375, this vineyard produces powerful, concentrated wines. This fine example is dense, weighty and firm. The acidity is there, buried in the firm tannins. It is a wine with an enormous potential, dark and full of plum skin and berries. Drink from 2022.

Bright cherry and raspberry fruit pick up earth, tobacco and black pepper accents in this powerful red. Dense tannins leave a burr on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2028. By Bruce Sanderson (USA)

A softly spicy nose is composed mostly by notes of red and dark cherry along with earth and game hints. There is excellent volume and intensity to the relatively refined middle weight plus flavors that culminate in a mildly austere but not really rustic finale that delivers excellent length. This firmly constituted effort will definitely require at least a modicum of patience before it will drink well. /2026+

Ninety per cent of this clay-based, red-soiled vineyard belongs to Louis Latour. It's a very stylish, refined wine, showing lots of crunchy, redcurrant and pomegranate fruit flavours, filigree tannins and refreshing acidity, with none of the Corton gruffness. 2019-28 (UK)

A depth of aroma, faintly sweet fruit notes above, blended with some herb. Lithe, wide, fresh cool fruit. A slowly growing tannin but never more than an accent. Lovely high-toned flavour here, indeed an elegance here. This is very pretty wine indeed. (cask sample) By Bill Nanson (UK)

This is a ripe and round wine with dried strawberry and lemon rind. Full, with lovely texture. Long and flavorful. A gorgeous wine. One of the classics of Latour. Drink or hold.

A pretty, very red fruit but transparent, not dense. Here is a little tannin at the base. Almost chocolatey accented fruit. Good intensity, and wide too. First of four 2012s from the Louis Latour master class. Aromas include bright red cherry and light toasted notes, the palate at once elegant and substantial, with the plum and cherry fruit complemented by touches of licorice, roasted espresso and spice cake notes. A lovely wine, with a long finish !

Very youthful in colour after some 2010s, with perfume and a sense of lightness than I felt in the 2012 tasted earlier. Complex touches or red liquorice and chewy, fleshy plum and raspberry bright fruits, and a very fine and smooth tannin structure. There is power here again, there is concentration, but the freshness sets this apart from the 1er crus and the long, lightly spicy fruit filled finish. (UK)

Lovely mellow colour with a touch of soft ochre on the rim. Fine sweet earth and truffle aromas. Such a ripe rich core of berries and plum, but not heavy, there is some floral fragrance here too. Rich, almost voluptuous palate with coffee and a great depth of fruit, the silky tannins do add structure and the freshness is surprisingly good, with a lovely long, sweetly focused finish. (UK)
