- Chassagne-Montrachet is located to the south of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune and is one of Burgundy's greatest white wine appellations. The Premier Cru parcel of Les Baudines is located on the edge of the forest at the top of a hillside at an altitude of 315m above sea level. The clay-limestone soil is white in appearance and quite compact. The name Baudines is derived from the dialect word Bode which means stone-house or hut which are often present on hillsides.

Smoky notes of mineral reduction are complemented by cool aromas of citrus and jasmine tea. There is fine volume to the nicely rich and textured medium-bodied flavors that exude evident minerality on the appealingly textured, long and balanced finale.

A restrained, elegant and pure nose takes some aggressive
swirling to coax the aromas of cool citrus, poached pear and
pretty floral wisps to reveal themselves. The refined and
punchy flavors also exude a subtle bead of minerality on the
markedly citrus-suffused and bone-dry finish that is balanced.

- Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Baudines” 2009 - Burghound.com - June 2011 - 91/100While notably ripe, this is actually quite cool with an elegant and pure nose of wet stone, white flower and lemon zest aromas that are trimmed in a deft touch of toast before merging into rich, clean and beautifully detailed middle weight flavors that possess a fine sense of underlying tension on the mouth coating and very dry finish that lingers nicely. This could use just a bit more depth but the balance is so good as is the underlying material that my score offers the benefit of the doubt that additional complexity will develop in bottle. 2015+. This is really an impressive effort and while rather linear just now, it should blossom in time. In a word, terrific. (90-93)/2015+
